Banting & Best Diabetes Centre 29th Annual Scientific Day
Friday, May 11, 2018
The Old Mill Inn
21 Old Mill Road, Toronto
The Scientific Day provides an opportunity for our members to exchange scientific information and ideas, and to assist in the development of collaborative diabetes-related research activities. It also provides an opportunity for BBDC trainees to network and discuss their research. BBDC postdoctoral fellowship and graduate studentship recipients, as well as selected Annual Trainee Awards Competition abstract submitters will present posters of their work. Dr. Martin Myers Jr. (Director, Michigan Diabetes Research Center) as well as a BBDC member TBD will judge ten pre-selected posters for the Annual Trainee Awards competition. The prize winners will be announced and prizes will be presented to the recipients at the end of the Scientific Day.
The event will focus on the latest diabetes research topics with both clinical and laboratory applications. This year's Charles Hollenberg Memorial Lectureship will be presented by Dr. Leonard Guarente, Director, Glenn Labs for the Science of Aging at MIT. The program will also include Drs. Michelle Bendeck, Richard E. Gilbert, Evan Lewis, Cristina Nostro and Hoon-Ki Sung.
BBDC Members: This event is open and free of charge to all BBDC members, their trainees, and U of T endocrine residents. Registration is required and forms must be received by April 20, 2018.
Important Note to BBDC Members: If you register and then find that you or any of your trainees are not able to attend, please notify us as soon as possible. Those who are registered but do not attend will be invoiced $80 for recovery of food and beverage expenses. Please inform your trainees and colleagues of the importance of notifying the BBDC of any cancellations.
